A medicinal herb used for respiratory and lung conditions specifically pleurisy, inflammation of the lining of the lungs and chest. Soothes coughs and congestion.

A tea cup of the warm infusion taken every hour will powerfully promote free perspiration and suppressed expectoration. The decoction is taken in doses of 2 to 3 fluid ounces. It is often combined with angelica and sassafras.
