Also Known As: Indian Tobacco, Pukeweed, Vomit Weed
Lobelia is a North American flowering herb with a long history in Indigenous and traditional American herbal practices. Historically, it became especially associated with respiratory herbal traditions and was incorporated into a variety of traditional botanical preparations.
Lobelia naturally contains several alkaloids, most notably lobeline, a plant compound that interacts with nicotinic acetylcholine receptors.
Because Lobelia is a potent botanical, it should be used sparingly and is not an herb I would position as an everyday tea.
