Sea Moss
Scientific Name: Commonly Chondrus crispus
Also Known As: Irish Moss, Irish Sea Moss
Sea Moss is a nutrient-rich red seaweed traditionally used as both a food and wellness ingredient. Native to rocky Atlantic coastlines, Sea Moss has been incorporated into foods and beverages for generations and is especially well known in Irish and Caribbean traditions.
Naturally occurring compounds in Sea Moss include dietary fiber, polysaccharides, iodine, and various trace minerals. Because mineral content can vary considerably depending on species, growing conditions, location, and processing, the exact nutritional composition of natural Sea Moss may differ from batch to batch.
Sea Moss naturally contains iodine, an essential mineral the body uses to produce thyroid hormones. However, more iodine is not necessarily better, and Sea Moss should not be considered a treatment for thyroid conditions.
Its naturally occurring polysaccharides also give soaked Sea Moss its characteristic gel-like consistency, making it a popular addition to smoothies, beverages, soups, and other foods.

Warnings & Precautions
Sea Moss naturally contains iodine, and iodine concentrations can vary substantially between products and harvests.
Consult a qualified healthcare professional before regular use if you have hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Graves’ disease, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, another thyroid disorder, or are taking thyroid medication.
Avoid combining large amounts of Sea Moss with iodine supplements, kelp supplements, or substantial amounts of other iodine-rich seaweeds unless directed by a healthcare professional.
Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should consult a qualified healthcare professional before using Sea Moss in supplemental or concentrated amounts, as iodine requirements and safe intake are particularly important during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Excessive iodine intake may interfere with normal thyroid function. Adults should consider iodine intake from all foods, beverages, supplements, and seaweeds combined.
Seaweeds naturally absorb minerals and other substances from the surrounding water. Depending on where they are grown or harvested, marine algae may accumulate arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury, or other environmental contaminants. Products intended for regular consumption should be appropriately sourced and tested for contaminants.
Large amounts may cause digestive discomfort, including bloating, loose stools, nausea, or diarrhea in sensitive individuals.
Individuals taking prescription medications or managing a chronic medical condition should consult a qualified healthcare professional before regular supplemental use.
Keep out of reach of children.
