Botanical Name: Mentha pulegium
Made as a tea, this herb is frequently used for the soothing effect on an upset stomach. Believed to have the ability to remedy painful menstruation and encourage the menstrual flow. Consequently, it can also cause the uterus to contract and has been used by folk medicine to induce abortion. For this reason, pregnant women must not take pennyroyal tea in any form.
Warning: Not to be used during pregnancy. Not to be used while nursing. Not for use by women with a heavy menstrual flow. Not recommended for use in infants, children, or in persons with liver or kidney disease.
